The competition is played to IIHF rules, the European convention, rather than North American defaults.

  1. 01

    Points

    Three points for a win in regulation. Two points for a win in overtime or a shootout. One point for a loss in overtime or a shootout. No points for a loss in regulation.

  2. 02

    Overtime

    Five minutes of sudden-death overtime played three-on-three. The first goal wins the game.

  3. 03

    Shootout

    If overtime settles nothing, a five-round shootout follows, then sudden death round by round.

  4. 04

    Tiebreakers

    Clubs level on points are separated by the results between the tied clubs, then by goal difference in those games, then goals scored in those games, then goal difference across the whole competition, then goals scored across the whole competition.

    Game format

    Three periods of twenty minutes of stopped time, with ice resurfaced between periods.
